The Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (BMIHMS) congratulates 1994 graduate Tish Nyar on his recent appointment with Toga Far East Hotels (TFE) as Director of Operations for Australia and New Zealand. Tish will join TFE Hotels from 6 February 2017.
Tish’s career commenced with Rydges Hotels and Resorts before he moved across to Accor, where his career focused on food and beverage leadership. He returned to Rydges Hotels & Resorts in hotel management roles in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne and has been in area management roles since 2006. Most recently he has focused on strategic project delivery for Rydges, which included the planning and execution of hotel rebrands, technology implementations and hotel developments and openings in Australia and London.
Tish holds a wealth of experience across hotel operations, regional management, property openings and refurbishments, hospitality technology innovation, digital customer engagement strategies, business plans and owner relationship management. He is a leader who drives asset growth for owners, continually stretches hotel revenue, leads and embeds business change and improves operational efficiencies. Tish is a strong and authentic leader who believes in caring for one’s people in order to ensure their engagement and passion for the business.
Tish was recently appointed as chairman of the BMIHMS Alumni Advisory Board, and has also been a member of NSW Tourism Accommodation Australia Board, National Accommodation Division Board and Vice Chairman of the Canberra Convention Centre Board.
When speaking at the school during our Leadership Speaker Series, Tish‘s advice to students was “It’s a matter of patience and time. It’s really important to go through and get the experience before you achieve that position.”
