BMIHMS ANNOUNCES NEXT LEADERSHIP SPEAKER SERIES EVENT

The Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (BMIHMS) at Torrens University will host the next event in its popular Leadership Speaker Series (LSS) next month.

The event, to be held on Friday 2 June from 2.30pm AEST, will feature Mr Craig Hooley, General Manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney as our leader panelist.

With an international hospitality career that spans over 20 years, Craig Hooley has developed and opened 22 award-winning hotels across multiple countries and iconic luxury brands. Prior to his current role Craig led corporate operations at Shangri-La International Management in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for the implementation of commercially driven programs across the entire group. 

Other notable experience includes his position as Regional Director of Operations for Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) – United Kingdom, Craig spearheaded the success of 44 managed hotels under multiple brands, becoming a centre of innovation and changing the landscape for IHG. After a career which commenced with the Royal Australian Navy, Craig’s expertise includes multi-unit operations, corporate human resources, strategy and development in Australasia, the South Pacific, Europe and Asia.

The BMIHMS Leadership Speaker Series (LSS) creates panel discussions for BMIHMS students to learn and engage with those at the forefront of the hospitality industry.

Hospitality leaders discuss current trends within the sector, while providing an open Q&A forum, giving students the chance to gain greater insight into possible future career paths from those leading the field.

Previous panelists include world-renowned dynamic hotelier and restaurateur Loh Lik Peng, Founder and Director of the Unlisted Collection, BMIHMS alumni Justin King (General Manager of the No.1 Boutique Hotel in the World, Saffire Freycinet) and Jan Smits (CEO, IHG AMEA).

“We introduced the LSS to ensure that our students were getting real exposure to the industry on a regular basis. Our learning model at BMIHMS is quite unique and comprises academic excellent, applied learning and industry experience.
