My Beginning with the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School . . .

My Beginning with the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School . . . Since this is my first post on this blog, I would like to rewind (I am currently on Industry Placement) and go back to where I began with this special hotel school.I joined the school in September 2010, where my first three months was some of the most challenging of my life. I spent the whole term in tears fighting with myself, trying to make it through year 1 practical combined with the stress over being in a new environment so far from home, family and friends.

I cannot believe that two years have passed so quickly. The person I am today is not the same person who joined this school in September 2010, I have grown immensely and this Hospitality Management School and everyone here have contributed to my growth and the person that I am today.

I never imagined myself making it through to this far. However, with all the encouragement I received from all the teachers, staff and students, I forced myself to fight through this difficult, yet beautiful journey. I could have never imagined myself achieving so much in such a short span of time, whether it is adjusting with being away from home, getting through in my studies, joining the Student Council (as Treasurer) or even joining the Mentoring Scholarship Program as a Kitchen Mentoring Scholarship Student (MSS).

With the experience that I had in my first year, I could never have dreamt of being a MSS in the Kitchen or joining the Student Council as a Treasurer. However, everyone at the School has always been extremely supportive, always encouraged me to believe in myself and told me that I could always do it, and I eventually did!

Most importantly, the thing that I have gained from this beautiful place is the relationships that I have made with both my teachers and friends. Finally, I never thought that this is where I would find my true fellow students. I have made many friends here, who I will never forget and will remain my life long friends.

It brings tears into my eyes every time I think of all the many memories that are joined to this everlastingly school . . . Memories that have been created on the school campus are the memories that I will carry with myself throughout my life!

With lots of love, Jyotika Khanijou
