BMIHMS ANNOUNCES $20,000 SCHOLARSHIP FOR REGIONAL STUDENTS

In conjunction with AHA NSW, the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (BMIHMS) at Torrens University is offering one lucky student from regional NSW the opportunity of a lifetime.

Applications are now open for the 2018 Hospitality Scholarship, which will grant one prospective student a $20,000 scholarship grant from the AHA NSW Foundation.

The lucky recipient will undertake a 2.5 year Bachelor of Business (International Hotel and Resort Management) at BMIHMS; one of the School’s most sought after degrees.

Laureate Australia & New Zealand General Manager for Hospitality, Jerome Casteigt, said the organisation was thrilled to be partnering with AHA NSW for the ninth year running.

“At BMIHMS, we are strongly focused on investing in student potential and rewarding talent.

“We are always looking for students who are passionate about the industry, but we are also conscious that not all students have the same access to the high quality education we provide.

“This scholarship opportunity is designed to provide encouragement and support for hardworking regional students who are interested in a career in hospitality management. We’re excited to be working with AHA NSW to help these students achieve their career goals,” he said.

Last year’s winner was from Wellington and past winners have been from Mittagong, Grenfell, Griffith, Forster, the Illawarra and Hunter Valley.

The scholarship grant will go towards assisting with the cost of accommodation associated with the degree.  Applications are open to any male or female living in regional NSW. Applicants are eligible to be under the age of 18 when applying, however must be over the age of 18 when the degree commences within 12 months of receiving the scholarship.

Members of the general public are also invited nominate worthy recipients who demonstrate the qualities of regional NSW – hardworking with a strong desire to succeed in the hospitality industry. They can already be working in the industry – or just wanting to start out.

Applicants will undergo an interview process in Sydney in early November, with all finalists invited to the Awards for Excellence ceremony on Tuesday, 20 November 2018 where the winner will be announced.

Applications close on Monday 8 October 2018.
