“The GPP Program is an amazing opportunity for Blue Mountains to showcase our amazing students to industry.” – Anthony Mitri (Director of Industry, Innovation and Employability)
The Graduate Privileged Partners program started in 2007, during a skills shortage, to connect graduating students to industry. It was an instant hit. International brands were literally lining up to get access to BMIHMS graduates.
Eleven years later the program continues to be an incredible success, with each year bringing growth and innovation.
We are proud to announce, Sydney’s largest casino and hotel complex has joined the GPP!
The iconic Star Sydney features eight bars, seven restaurants, 351 hotel rooms and 130 serviced and privately owned apartments, plus it encompasses the 2,000 seat Sydney Lyric Theatre and Event Centre. The five-star hotel offers guests a luxury experience that’s unlikely to be forgotten.
It’s no exaggeration to say that The Star is a famous destination for local and international guests alike.
In fact, this year, The Star surpassed Crown Casino as the number one VIP gaming destination in Australia.
So, what do BMIHMS students get out of this?
Being one of the most exclusive establishments in Sydney, The Star is looking for extraordinary talent to support the growth of the business and maintain its reputation for five-star service. Now a part of the GPP, The Star will have direct access to recruit BMIHMS students with the most potential before they graduate.
Our students get VIP access to this prestigious brand!
Here’s how it works.
If you are a student of BMIHMS, you can apply for the GPP program in your second year. Over the course of a few months, you go through interviews and assessments to find out if you’re a suitable candidate for the program. If you’re successful, you are offered a position in the program!
Other GPP partners include Accor, Four Seasons, Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Sofitel, InterContinental Hotel Group, Starwood, Crown…. and now, the Star!
So far, the Careers Development team has managed to put an average of 750 students per year into placements, through our industry partners. Around 14% of these end up being international placements. Now that’s something to get excited about.
