Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School Student to Anchor 2014 Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting Global Broadcast

Sixtine Consigny,  a French student completing her Master degree in hotel management at Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School, was selected as one of three student anchors for the 2014 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting. She will travel to New York City from September 21-24, 2014 to participate in a live broadcast, transmitted by Laureate International Universities (LIU), which will be watched by thousands of students at Laureate network institutions. As part of the webcast, Consigny will conduct interviews with CGI participants on the floor and in the Laureate Live studio.

“Sixtine demonstrated exceptional skills in her application and interview and beat applicants from all over the world,” said Guy Bentley, CEO of BMIHMS Ltd. “This is a unique opportunity for a student in hospitality to participate in one of the most important events in the world, thanks to our Laureate International Universities network’s sponsorship of this event.”

The competition to become a student anchor was limited to institutions within the Laureate network. Over 50 applications were received from students at 19 different institutions.  The selection criteria included academic achievement, engagement in campus life and/or professional internship, global mindset, maturity and leadership skills, social responsibility and business orientation, among others.

Shortlisted students were invited to participate in a video conference interview with the selection committee. Sixtine will be joined by Emilio Jaliel Díaz Ortiz, from Universidad del Valle de México and Nyiko Nenita Mthembi, from Monash University South Africa.

Laureate International Universities is the first-ever outside organisation to broadcast CGI’s Annual Meeting. This is the third year of the webcast, which is transmitted in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Student anchors are given unparalleled access to CGI participants and provide an in-depth look at the event for their peers watching from the their local institutions. Sixtine, and her two partner anchors, will also receive public speaking coaching and mentoring prior to the event.
