Master of Hotel Management
When considering postgraduate study it is important to take into account the reputation of the institution. It will indicate to an employer the quality of education the student has received. As such the Blue Mountains Master of International Hotel Management program has been designed for those who are looking to change careers and enter into hotel management.
The program ensures that Master students can take their current Bachelor degree and build on their business knowledge while learning the core hospitality skills to ensure a successful career in hotel management. If you do not have an undergraduate qualification but have 5+ years in a supervisory role you may also be eligible.
How our postgraduate program works:
- Study is full-time over 2 years and undertaken at the Sydney campus.
- If required, some practical components of the course will be undertaken at the Leura campus.
- Intakes throughout the year in January, April, July and September.
- Recognition of prior learning and consideration of work experience may result in credit towards some units.
- View the Postgraduate Brochure for further details;
Download the descriptions of each unit in the Masters program, and detailed subject outlines are available.
The Master degree can also be undertaken by those students who already hold a Bachelor degree in hospitality management. As credit for some units may be granted, students may be able to complete the Master degree in 1 year and 3 months.
The Postgraduate Certificate is open those students who may not have a formal qualification but have held a supervisory role in any industry for at least five years. They can apply for the Postgraduate Certificate in International Hotel Management which then leads into the full Masters program.
Detailed Postgraduate Certificate subject outlines are available.
Paid Industry Placements
As with the Bachelor degree numerous hotel chains partner with us in placing students in one paid hospitality industry job in Australia during the full Master degree, lasting up to 24 weeks.
Students put into practice the skills learnt at the Blue Mountains, gaining real-life work experience that counts towards their degree. The paid placements also allow crucial contacts and peer networks to be developed. And the money earned can save on tuition fees as well as be put towards travel.
