Scholarships

Blue Mountains is pleased to announce that a range of domestic scholarships are available for the July 2012 intake.

National Scholarship (Australian Citizens)

We are offering one (1) National Scholarship up to the value of AUD$10,000 each for the July 2012 intake.

All the scholarship amounts will also be credited towards the residential fees.

Motivational Scholarships (residents of Australia and New Zealand)

A total of nine scholarships are available for the July 2012 intake:

• Two (2) motivational scholarships up to the value of AUD$5,000. Credited towards residential fees.
• Seven (7) motivational scholarships up to the value of AUD$3,000. Credited towards residential fees.

Application Process

To apply for these scholarships applicants are asked to submit the following information:

• Completed application to enrol at BMIHMS in July 2012, or a BMIHMS Letter of Offer for July 2012.
• A cover letter outlining their merit and need for the scholarship, personal qualities and achievements as well future aspirations. For the National Scholarships this needs to be at least 500 words.
• Their resume outlining their schooling, work experience, extra curricular activities, career goals, interests and hobbies etc.
• Certified copies of any certificates and transcripts received (including year 11 & 12 results where applicable).
• Letters of reference from a teacher, or employer

Applications will be judged on all aspects and merit of the application and is only available for the July 2012 start date (scholarships cannot be transferred to another start date). For the National Scholarships the selected applicants will be invited to attend an interview which may involve phone, face to face and panel interviews/workshop.

The successful applicants will be requested to assist with certain duties during their time as a student. These responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, becoming members of the SRC and assisting with visitor campus tours.

The closing date for all scholarships is 1st June 2012.

Women in Tourism & Hospitality Scholarship

Australia’s hotel, tourism and hospitality industry is fortunate enough to be comprised of many talented women who provide memorable and unsurpassed experiences for guests throughout Australia on a daily basis. From the concierge to the general manager, from the five star hotel to the country pub, and from the tour guide to the CEO – women make this industry tick day in, day out.

This prestigious award – now in its third year – gives a young woman from regional NSW the opportunity to achieve her career goals through a $20,000 scholarship grant, to study the Blue Mountains Bachelor of Business (International Hotel & Resort Management) degree, from the AHA (NSW)’s Charitable Foundation. Applications close on July 6th 2012.
